Render: is a wall coating that comprises of a mixture of sand and cement and is usually a flat surface.
Tyrolean render: normally professionals use a wet mix which is difficult to apply without experience. DIY enthusiasts therefore prefer Tyrolean render, which is a dry mix and easier to use.
Roughcast: is a wall coating that also contains small stones or chippings.
Pebbledash: is a wall coating comprising of a thick base coat, covered with a render of small stones.
Blown pebbledash / render: this is an expression used when cracks appear, or when the surface coating has become separated from the thick base coat or the whole surface has separated from the wall behind.
